Historical & Mythological Significance
Kashi is mentioned in the Upanishads and Puranas as the abode of Shiva. The temple has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times. The present structure was built in 1780 by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore. The temple's two domes are covered in gold, donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh of Punjab in 1835. The temple holds immense significance as Hindus believe dying here leads to liberation (Moksha).

VIP Passes & Entry Guidelines
General entry is free. Sugam Darshan (VIP pass for direct entry) costs ₹300 per person and can be booked online on the official portal (shrikashivishwanath.org). Mangala Aarti passes are highly in demand and cost ₹350 to ₹600.
Dress Code & Prohibited Items
Traditional attire is mandatory for performing Abhishek Puja inside the inner sanctum: - Men: Dhoti-Kurta. - Women: Saree or Salwar-Kameez with Dupatta. - Normal Darshan: Smart casuals are allowed. Shorts and sleeveless clothes are strictly prohibited.
