Historical & Mythological Significance
According to mythology, Barbarika was an exceptionally powerful warrior who possessed three infallible arrows gifted by Lord Shiva. During the Mahabharata war, Krishna realized that if Barbarika fought, the war would end instantly in favor of whoever he supported, leading to massive destruction. Krishna asked Barbarika for his head in charity (Dan). Without hesitation, Barbarika cut off his head and presented it. Pleased with his supreme sacrifice, Krishna blessed Barbarika, saying that in the age of Kaliyuga, he would be worshipped in Krishna's own name, 'Shyam', and his head would be enshrined in Khatu village.

Khatu is well-linked via national and state highways. It is about 80 km from Jaipur and 270 km from Delhi. Regular buses run from Sikar, Jaipur, Ringas, and New Delhi.
